Renee Cherowitz, LMHC (MH11472) is the founder and owner of RC Counseling. Renee earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University. Renee has extensive training and over 25 years of experience working with individuals and families who have a history of trauma, addiction/substance abuse, eating disorders, dependency court/foster care involvement and co-occurring mental health concerns.
Renee is a clinical qualified supervisor and an adoption competency therapist. Renee is EMDR trained, a trauma-informed clinical hypnotherapist, and a Master A.R.T. (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), which are all highly effective treatments for trauma and PTSD. Renee specializes in trauma/C-PTSD, PTSD, victims of narcissistic abuse, eating disorders, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), addiction/substance dependence issues and working with first responders’, and military personnel. Renee co-facilitates the weekly Friends and Family and pro-recovery support groups through the National Alliance for Eating Disorders. Renee is a key-note speaker and provides presentations for community events and mental health groups.
Renee believes that most of us experience struggles that play a significant role in our day-to-day life. For many of us, these arise from underlying core issues that have not been addressed. Renee’s goal is to provide each individual with a safe and non-judgmental environment to begin the process of healing, growth and enlightenment. While utilizing cutting edge therapeutic modalities, such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Renee has helped countless individuals reclaim their lives from the devastating effects of trauma.
